This is the most important menu for competitive play.

Players have two main UI options for the menu, which can be changed in the :

A modern (for 2003) full-screen interface featuring weapon images and stats.

The concept of "eco rounds," where teams intentionally lose a round to save money for a stronger buy in the next round, or "force buys," where a team decides to buy the best equipment despite not having enough money, adds layers of strategic depth. These decisions require excellent communication and a deep understanding of the game's dynamics.

Outside of the standard B menu, there are "Quick Buy" keys. These are vital for buying weapons during the "freeze time" at the start of a round quickly.

If you know the enemy team is saving (eco), do not buy an AWP. Buy SMGs ( B 3 1 MP5) or shotguns. These weapons give more kill reward money ($900 per kill in some versions) and are effective against unarmored opponents.

The menu itself is simple yet comprehensive. It categorizes items into weapons, armor, and equipment, making it relatively easy for players to navigate, even under the pressure of a live match. However, the simplicity of the menu belies the complexity of the decisions players must make. For instance, choosing between a high-damage rifle like the AK-47 or the accuracy of the M4A1 involves considering playstyle, team composition, and the map's layout.
