The (ललिता सहस्रनाम) is a sacred text from the Brahmanda Purana . It is a part of the Lalitopakhyana (the story of Lalita) and contains the 1,000 names of the Goddess Lalitha Tripura Sundari (the Beautiful Goddess of the Three Worlds).

The story begins with the gods (Devas) being defeated by the powerful demon . He was no ordinary demon. He was born from the ashes of Manmatha (Kamadeva, the god of love), who had been burned to ashes by Lord Shiva's third eye when Kama tried to distract Shiva's meditation. This made Bhandasura immensely powerful and arrogant, especially over desire and lust.
