While there are no formal prerequisites for the MicroMasters, the full degree expects knowledge of calculus, linear algebra, and basic Python/R.

Note: As of 2026, Georgia Tech has also launched a related program, the Online Master of Science in Cybersecurity (OMS Cybersecurity), and continues to expand its offerings on the edX platform.

Georgia Tech is consistently ranked among the top public universities in the United States, particularly in engineering and computing. When you complete a MicroMasters or a course from this program, you aren't just getting a certificate of completion; you are receiving a credential backed by a major research university. This rigor is exactly what hiring managers look for. They know that a Georgia Tech certificate isn't a "participation trophy"—it requires real mathematical and computational heavy lifting.
