He plays the "Straight Man" to the absurdity around him. His frustration with Pim’s naivety and the Boss’s insanity drives much of the dialogue. Despite his complaints, he deeply cares about his friends and will step up when things get dire.

He is the foil to Charlie. Where Charlie sees the logistical hurdles and cynicism, Pim sees only the end goal: the smile. This often results in Pim dragging a reluctant Charlie into dangerous situations.

The Boss is a manic, bipolar schizophrenic character who oscillates between boundless energy and deep depression or aggression.
