Code is not yet merged into mainline repositories; available via a feature branch in NVIDIA/ReSTIR-GI (tag 0.33-exp ).
Accurately models both soft, scattered light (diffuse) and sharp, reflective light (specular). How to Use RTGI 0.33
The update, released in August 2022 alongside ReShade 5.3, represents a significant milestone in the evolution of software-based ray tracing for PC gaming. Developed by Pascal Gilcher (popularly known as Marty McFly ), the Ray Traced Global Illumination (RTGI) shader allows players to inject advanced lighting effects—like bounce lighting and realistic shadows—into virtually any game with a depth buffer. What is RTGI 0.33? rtgi 0.33
: It was bundled with the release of ReShade 5.3 in August 2022.
Previous versions of RTGI were heavy. Version 0.33 introduces better optimizations for temporal stability and compute efficiency. Code is not yet merged into mainline repositories;
ReSTIR GI extends ReSTIR (originally for direct lighting) to full global illumination by resampling paths across space and time. Version 0.33 (an early experimental build) focuses on fixing issues from v0.3:
