Starting with version 6.5, VMware officially discontinued the standalone desktop vSphere Client. Instead, the platform shifted to web-based management. This means you do not need to "download" an installer to manage a 6.5 host; the management interface is built directly into the server software.

Importantly, this client is deprecated for vSphere 6.5 and cannot manage many 6.5 features (e.g., vSAN, new VM versions). For vSphere 6.5, this client can only connect to a vCenter Server 6.5 in “legacy mode” for basic functions, but it is not recommended or officially distributed for 6.5.
