Because Windows 7 was built on the same underlying architecture as Vista (but was significantly more optimized), it essentially served as the "ultimate update" that Vista users were waiting for. SP3 adds partial DirectX 12 support for feature level 11_0/11_1 GPUs. Old games (Bioshock, Crysis) see a 5-10% frame rate boost. More importantly, native exFAT and ReFS (read-only) support means you can finally plug in modern 128GB USB drives without third-party drivers.
