The demand for water-resistant smartphones has traditionally been confined to high-end flagship devices. However, emerging markets require durable, low-cost solutions. This paper investigates the extent to which ITEL, a brand focused on affordable smartphones, implements waterproofing or water-resistant technologies. Findings indicate that ITEL devices do not feature certified waterproofing (IP68/IP67) but rely on internal nano-coating and structural sealing to provide basic splash and dust protection.
