Yet, a connection that rises vertically to God but fails to extend horizontally to creation is inherently incomplete. This brings us to the second dimension of tawasul nu lengkep : the social and ethical connection ( hablun minannas ). In the spiritual worldview, one cannot claim closeness to the Merciful while harboring cruelty or indifference toward His creation. The Sufi adage suggests that the true pathway to God is through service to humanity. Therefore, a "complete" tawasul necessitates that the spiritual energy generated in prayer be transformed into social action. It manifests as charity, kindness to neighbors, honesty in trade, and justice in leadership. When a person uses their spiritual status to harm others or ignore their suffering, their tawasul is flawed—like a cup with a crack that cannot hold water. The completeness of the connection is tested in the marketplace and the home, not just in the mosque.
