8 winners from L1 vs 8 losers from Winners Round 2 (W9–W16) → 8 matches. 8 first-round winners + 8 bye teams = 16 teams → 8 matches

4 winners from L4 → 2 matches.

This ensures every team gets exactly two losses before elimination, and the bracket remains balanced for tournament play.

However, the 24-team bracket is not without its complexities and imperfections. The most glaring issue is the distribution of byes. Because 24 is not a perfect power of two (like 16 or 32), the bracket requires byes to function efficiently. Typically, the top eight seeded teams might receive a bye past the first round. While this rewards regular-season performance, it can create a disparity in momentum. A team with a bye might enter the tournament cold, while a lower-seeded team has already warmed up with a victory. Furthermore, the Losers' Bracket often forces teams to play significantly more matches in a shorter timeframe. A team that drops early may have to play four or five grueling matches to reach the finals, leading to fatigue that can compromise the quality of play in the championship rounds.
